Story (No Spoilers)

Set during the 1971 India–Pakistan war, the film follows three officers — from the Army, the Air Force and the Navy — who bonded at the National Defence Academy. The story moves between their training years and the wartime operations that test them, with Sunny Deol as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler, Varun Dhawan as Maj Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, Diljit Dosanjh as Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon and Ahan Shetty as Lt Cdr Mahendra Singh Rawat.

Performances

Sunny Deol is the emotional anchor and critics praised his performance. Diljit Dosanjh brings warmth as the Air Force officer, and Varun Dhawan handles the action well. Mona Singh and Sonam Bajwa add emotional weight on the home front.

Direction and Music

Director Anurag Singh (Kesari) focuses on sincerity and brotherhood. The soundtrack includes remixes of songs from the original film. Reviews were generally positive (around 69% on Rotten Tomatoes), with the 201-minute runtime and some visual effects being the main complaints.

Box Office and OTT

Border 2 grossed about ₹464.5 crore worldwide. Netflix bought the streaming rights for a reported ₹225 crore, and it has been streaming since 20 March 2026.
