In This Review
Alpha is the seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe (after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3 and War 2) and its first female-led entry, directed by debutant Shiv Rawail of The Railway Men.
Story (No Spoilers)
A highly trained assassin (Alia Bhatt), raised in isolation as a super-soldier by a rogue commander, discovers the dark truth about her family and stolen childhood. She teams up with her long-lost twin sister (Sharvari) to take down her creator and his illegal military programme. Anil Kapoor plays their father, a R&AW chief, and Bobby Deol is the antagonist.
Performances and Action
Critics praised the cast and the action sequences, and Hrithik Roshan’s extended cameo as Kabir drew cheers. The music by Rohansh and Abeer Pandit was also appreciated.
What Went Wrong
The story and screenplay were widely criticised, with only 26% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The film grossed about ₹98.6 crore worldwide against a reported ₹100–150 crore budget and was labelled a box office bomb.
OTT Release
Alpha has been streaming on Netflix since 28 August 2026.
