In This Review
Bhooth Bangla brings back the Akshay Kumar–Priyadarshan combination that gave us Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Garam Masala. It released on 17 April 2026 after several date changes.
Story (No Spoilers)
A legend speaks of Vadhusur, a demon who can only be killed by his own hand or bloodline. Years later, Arjun (Akshay Kumar) decides to restore his family’s haunted Acharya Palace for his sister Meera’s wedding, ignoring the caretaker’s warnings. Strange events begin when he meets Priya (Wamiqa Gabbi), a writer searching for her missing sister.
Performances
Akshay Kumar plays a double role and is at his best in the comedy scenes. Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani bring classic Priyadarshan chaos, and Tabu appears in a flashback role.
Direction and Music
Critics enjoyed the humour of the first half but found the second half and storytelling weak, with some calling the comedy dated. Pritam’s soundtrack, including Arijit Singh’s “Tu Hi Disda”, was a highlight.
Box Office
Bhooth Bangla grossed about ₹247 crore worldwide on a reported ₹120 crore budget, making it a commercial success.
